guide to the perfect girls trip

Summer 2020 is coming up and if you're planning a trip with your favorite gals, you’re in luck. I’ve had my fair share of girls trips and I am here to tell you all my secrets for planning the most epic getaway.

Last year, I was lucky enough to take two big vacations with my gal pals and both ended up being EPIC trips. In January I went to London, Paris, and Amsterdam with my three best friends from college. I had never been on vacation with them and let's just say that a lot of feathers were ruffled in the process.

Which brings me to tip numero uno: make sure you go with people who will keep up with you. My Virgo self is extremely bossy, organized, and anal (I sound like I suck but I'm actually awesome, okay?). Go with people who can keep the fuck up. It’s not cute when you LITERALLY cannot hang. You have to be able to wake up early, see all the sights during the day, go out and have a wild night, and wake up to do it all again. We don’t love a non-rallier.

This brings me to my next tip: if you are going somewhere cold, layering is a must. I brought thermals to wear under all of my sweaters, scarfs, hats. The more layers, the warmer. You definitely don't want to be cold because that could ruin all your plans—you want to be able to walk around and enjoy the city. Likewise for warmer destinations—check your damn weather app and bring lots of options for before and after sundown.

My next tip is that you really need to plan everything in advance—make an itinerary and plan out your days. The biggest mistake we made was not planning what to do or see at all. We spent most of our days walking around a city, not knowing what to see or where to eat. We wasted a lot of time and that's not something you have if you're only in a city for a few days.

To be honest, I’ve lost count of how many tips I’ve given so far. But this one is crucial if your vacation vibe is trying to see and do as much as possible in as few days as possible: go with a group of four or less. Why, you ask? Well, I'll tell you why. It's so simple. You ready? UBER. You’re already on a tight budget and no one has the money to order that XL. Go with four or less. Trust me on this one.

After college graduation, I took a few months to travel before I had to get a job and be a person. So I took a trip with my best family friends—we all grew up together from childhood and are very comfortable with each other. We went to the party city of the Middle East and, in my opinion, the best country in the entire world: ISRAEL.

Our game plan in Tel Aviv was to have no plan. This was not a sightseeing, rallying, seeing the country trip like the one I took earlier in the year. This was a sit on the beach all day, get tan, take cute photos, and get trashed at night kind of trip. This was the absolute perfect trip because we were a group of 10+ girls, all single and ready to chill and party. So my next tip is to make sure that you go with people you TRULY get along with and that you’re all on the same page for the vibe of the trip.

Trips are for making memories with your best gals. Yes, these memories will be with you forever, but nothing truly captures those moments like a picture. My next tip is to bring a dope camera (an iPhone will do) to take the most amazing photos of your friends and memories. You have to get the shot of you and your gals by Buckingham Palace as well as the drunken video of your best friend throwing up over a bush in the middle of the streets of Tel Aviv. These memories you have to capture—so don’t think twice about being that girl that takes videos and photos constantly on vacation because I guarantee you'll forget 90% of the things that happen on your trip if you don't.

My last and final tip—don’t cry—is to be spontaneous and enjoy the moments. Planning is important but there is nothing better on a trip than doing something out of the blue and off-schedule. One night in Paris, I went to dinner with my friends to our fave restaurant in Le Marais called Miznon and we left at midnight. Our Airbnb was about three miles away but we were not in the mood to Uber, we just walked tiny cobblestone streets of Paris and enjoyed each other's company, made jokes and just had a fucking sick time being together. Out of the two weeks in Europe, the hour and a half it took us to get home was the best moment of my trip. Simple things like walking around a gorgeous city with the people you love can make amazing memories.

And there you go, you are officially ready to pack your bags and have yourself an epic girls trip.

Safe Travels, gals.
